Kensington Palace & Dress Codes Exhibition

Dress Codes is the brand-new royal fashion exhibition by Historic Royal Palaces, celebrating 500 years of the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection.

From 18th-century treasures to modern-day icons, the exhibition showcases a curated selection of garments that reveal the rules of royal court dressing—and how they still influence what we wear today.

Highlights include Queen Victoria’s black mourning gowns and Princess Diana’s iconic red wool suit, alongside never-before-seen pieces worn by courtiers and debutantes, such as a stunning gown from one of Queen Victoria’s costume balls.

You’ll also have time to explore Kensington Palace and its beautiful gardens —birthplace of Queen Victoria and home to young royals for over 300 years. Wander the magnificent King’s and Queen’s State Apartments, stroll through the landscaped gardens and take a break at the Kensington Palace Café or enjoy afternoon tea at The Orangery.
