Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens

Sissinghurst Castle in Kent was the backdrop for a diverse history, from the astonishing time as a prison in the 1700s to being a home to the women’s land army. It was also a family home to some fascinating people who lived there or went to stay. Today you can take in the ruined architecture of the extensive original buildings, vast panoramic views from the top of the Tower, the current working farm and the 450-acre estate along with Vita and Harold's gardens. Sissinghurst’s gardens are world-famous for their design, combining structured formality with a romantic, almost wild beauty. Each garden "room" is distinct in style and planting, from the White Garden, a monochromatic garden with only white-flowering plants, to the Rose Garden, bursting with old-fashioned roses and other complementary flowers.
